Activity Aetion (pronounced Ay-tee-on) is a small, high-technology software company, founded in 1999, by John R. Josephson, B. Chandrasekaran, and Mark T. B. Carroll. Aetion is a spin off from the Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence Research (LAIR) in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at The Ohio State University. We apply a portfolio of potent techniques – including some that we invented and patented – to solve problems in military situation awareness and planning, financial decision making, and manufacturing cost reduction.

Aetion has several research and development contracts from the U.S. Department of Defense, and is actively exploring civilian applications for its technology.
